Acorn Tour Takes Root

A drizzling rain gave way to glorious sunshine recently in honor of the first ever Acorn Tour, a leisurely driving event for auto enthusiasts with vehicles of all makes manufactured through 1953.

The event got rolling at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum as 11 beautifully maintained vehicles arrived and the nearly 30 occupants stepped inside for refreshments and tours - expertly led by the Museum's crack volunteer staff.

The Acorn Tour featured scenic driving routes through Oakland County with a midday stop in downtown Holly for window shopping, brunch at The Historic Holly Hotel and a visit to the members-only Detroit Railroad Club. The event ended with a stop at Paint Creek Center for the Arts in downtown Rochester for yet more nibbling and a peek at the gallery's "Art & Artifact" exhibit.

The Acorn Tour was presented by the Walter P. Chrysler Museum, Destination Oakland the MotorCities-Automobile National Heritage Area.
